This is a 30 x 30 x 1.5 inch square piece on a gallery profile canvas. For spooky season, I wanted to take a particular book/movie and do a character deep dive. I chose to finally read, “American Psycho” by Bret Easton Ellis and then also watch the movie after. The book is infinitely more disturbing than the movie and inspired the characterization of Patrick Bateman in this painting. That said, the painting could represent many who are unfortunately one event or a series of experiences from mentally keeping the mask of sanity in tact.
